The Catalyst

Ideas with a spark, energy, range and the ability to start things.

Andrew Griffith is the Shadow Business Secretary who aims to reshape the Conservative Party's approach to governance and business. This interview reveals his energetic and persuasive style as he seeks to unite his party and drive principled change in response to contemporary challenges.

IN THEIR WORDS, WHY CATALYST

I welcome the moratorium on, and potential saving of, West Sussex, in response to my opposition and that of thousands of residents who did not want our historic county cleaved in two.

HOUSE OF COMMONS

The Government and their Lib Dem little helpers in the Lords voted against a Conservative amendment in the name of the noble Lord Hunt to limit support to £2.5 billion over three years. That is almost £2.3 million every single day. The cap was not plucked from thin air—that £2.5 billion was the Government’s own figure.

HOUSE OF COMMONS

HOUSE OF COMMONS

This week, our hard-pressed automotive industry has sounded the alarm: under the zero emission vehicle rules, British car makers are being fined for making precisely the type of cars people want to buy. That is costing them £5 billion a year, denying consumer choice, damaging British jobs and putting automotive firms at risk.
