OTA LEADERSHIP INDEX

Alex Gurevich

ARCHETYPE

The Navigator

Judgement in the fog, money, risk and the call others cannot make.

Alex Gurevich earns The Navigator by treating macro markets as terrain to be charted, not weather to be endured. His ranked trade system and deliberate position sizing against asymmetric risk show a leader who reads conditions structurally rather than reactively, always protecting survival first. A twenty-five-year horizon completes the picture, marking the long-game orientation that distinguishes a navigator plotting a course from a speculator chasing one.

IN THEIR WORDS, WHY NAVIGATOR

I have a strategic system in which I ranked trades. I try to select trades which ex-ante look good. The bond trade of 2014 was the highest strength trade I ever had in my ranking — trades that make money even if everything goes against them.

EXPLAINING SYSTEMATIC TRADE RANKING APPROACH

I'm trying to position for mispriced results. The dichotomy one faces: you have really good odds in your favor, but the risk symmetry is very bad. If I make a bet on the outcome, it would be very moderate in size so that if the outlier happens, I cannot afford to blow up.

POSITIONING AROUND FED DECISIONS

Understanding that this is a long game — if I had known back then that I would still be in this game twenty-five years later and still enjoy it, it would probably have alleviated a lot of stress and pressure on me.
