Tangy Morgan

Tangy C. Morgan is a global (re)insurance leader whose career now spans more than four decades, beginning as an oil and gas production analyst at Conoco in Louisiana before moving into the US and London catastrophe and complex liability markets. She held senior underwriting and performance roles across Chubb, TIG, Guy Carpenter, AIG and Lloyd's of London, including Senior Vice President at Starr Excess International and Deputy Head of Syndicate Underwriting Performance at the Corporation of Lloyd's. In 2016 she was appointed an Independent Senior Advisor to the Bank of England's Prudential Regulation Committee and Authority, advising on business models, underwriting, board governance, solvency and capital modelling, organisational resilience, technology, and diversity. She completed the full eight year term in 2024. She was not a career regulator or central banker, a point she makes deliberately: the appointment came through sponsorship, an introduction to then deputy governor Andrew Bailey, rather than a conventional regulatory path. She now sits at the intersection of insurance risk and AI governance and ethics, serving on boards and initiatives including Strategia Worldwide, STEM Learning UK, the Lord Mayor's Appeal and the AI Ethics Initiative. Twice named on the Powerlist of the 100 most influential Black people in the UK (2022 and 2023) and awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2024, she is a frequent speaker on algorithmic bias, board composition and the governance of emerging technology.
