Paul Wraith
The Architect
Structured and legacy-driven; builds the systems and institutions that last.
Paul Wraith earns The Architect designation by constructing design systems rather than singular objects. He built the Bronco's identity outward from user-journey mapping and the logic of an iconic nameplate, then engineered open-ended modularity so owners could complete the vehicle themselves. That sequence, moving from structural conditions to outcomes and never the reverse, is the Architect's defining discipline, and Wraith practices it with unusual rigor as Ford's Chief Designer.
“The design of the vehicle emerged from Chinese doodles on post it notes and on scraps of paper pinned to a wall, where we were trying to imagine our way through a day in the life of our five customers.”
“We have these nameplates that are so iconic that we can build on and really focus down on. So Mustang's one, Bronco is another — once you've taken this idea that it's cool, it frees you to focus on doing exactly the right thing for that nameplate.”
“We set the vehicle up to provide a good platform for them to do what they need to do to make the vehicle their vehicle. We don't know what all those needs will be, but we've created the conditions for it.”
