Mike Bibby is The Operator, a leader who prizes process over recognition. At Shadow Mountain High School he installed film study, shooting-around classes, and opponent-specific defensive schemes, running the program, in his words, like a college one. He credits his NBA longevity to work ethic rather than raw talent, and in Atlanta he consciously adopted a Divac-like off-court glue role, optimizing for what the team needed instead of protecting his own billing.
“I coached my son since he was nine. My thing was to just make sure these kids get taught the right way — regardless if he's my son or not, they're gonna make the right play.”

“I took a different role. I took like a Vlade Divac role going to Atlanta. I was fine with that — I knew I didn't have much time left, and my thing was just trying to make these guys have fun playing basketball.”
