Michael Eboda
The Convener
The room, the network and the deal, brings the right people together.
Michael Eboda is a British media entrepreneur, journalist and community-sector leader. He is the founder and CEO of Powerful Media, the organisation behind the Powerlist, the definitive annual ranking of the UK's most influential Black people, now in its 20th year, together with Future Leaders (17 years, profiling young Black leaders at university) and the Celebration of Black Excellence Awards. Before founding Powerful Media, Eboda was Editorial Director at the Ethnic Media Group (ten titles) and Editor of The New Nation. He has written for The Guardian, The Times, The Sunday Times and The Independent. The Powerlist is an established institution in UK public life, with historic receptions at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and at 10 Downing Street under the Brown premiership, and he is currently expanding the Powerlist model into Europe.
“The probably the biggest achievement of the power list is the fact that we've managed to get people together who are at that level. Prior to what we are doing, there were a lot of people out there, but they didn't know one another.”
“Everybody on the power list has agreed if they're asked to mentor somebody from future leaders. Just that alone tells you the mentality of the people that we put on the list.”
“Unity is strength. When you are together it is a far easier fight and a far easier climb to get to where you want to get.”
