Kristalina Georgieva earns The Diplomat because her job demands it daily. Steering the IMF's 190 member countries through crises from COVID-19 to sovereign debt emergencies, she has built credibility across ideologically opposed governments and mediated the tensions between creditor and debtor nations without letting coalitions fracture. Her formation at the World Bank and the European Commission taught her to locate workable consensus where others see only deadlock, and to hold it under pressure.
