Jeremy Siegel

ARCHETYPE

The Strategist

The long view, patient, analytical, playing several moves ahead.

Jeremy Siegel earns The Strategist designation because his method is temporal depth, not reaction. The Wharton finance professor and author of Stocks for the Long Run treated pandemic-era monetary stimulus as a structural turning point, called the end of the bond bull market, and flagged unprecedented M1 velocity while others fixated on panic. His long-run identity is not branding. It is the analytical machinery itself.

IN THEIR WORDS, WHY STRATEGIST

Very early on in March, when the pandemic was raging and markets were tanking, I looked at what was going on and I said to myself, we've had unprecedented stimulus by the Federal Reserve — but this is what's very very important in terms of shaping how I look at what our future is going to be.

EARLY PANDEMIC MARKET ASSESSMENT

I made the call in April: the low bond rate we saw in the ten-year in March is going to be the lowest in our lifetime. It's going to end the forty-year bull market in bonds.

BOLD GENERATIONAL BOND MARKET CALL

The big difference this time is money is going right into checking accounts, right into transactions accounts, right into payroll accounts — in a way that I have never seen before. And I mean, I'm a historian of monetary statistics.
