OTA LEADERSHIP INDEX

Jalen Hood-Schifino

ARCHETYPE

The Navigator

Judgement in the fog, money, risk and the call others cannot make.

Jalen Hood-Schifino reads as The Navigator because he treats each move as a waypoint rather than a reaction. He left home at 16, chose Indiana for its NBA-readiness, and endured a reduced role before winning a national title, all framed as deliberate course-plotting. His stay even keel philosophy and calculated pre-draft approach reveal a young leader who reads situations, adapts without panic, and keeps the destination fixed under uncertainty.

IN THEIR WORDS, WHY NAVIGATOR

My mindset and my goal was definitely going there and wanting done. But it wasn't something I was forcing — I just went in there, I worked, I was myself, and that's kind of how it led me to be here.

ON HIS ONE-AND-DONE MINDSET

The main thing is just stay even keel. It's a season of ups and downs, and you're about to go into a new season playing eighty-something games, so it's gonna be a lot going on.

LESSON TAKEN FROM COLLEGE SEASON

Going in as a junior, I played like seven, eight minutes a game — that was tough. But went back my senior year and won the national championship, so it was cool.
