Glenn Robinson
The Disruptor
Contrarian and drawn to the edge; challenges the settled answer.
Glenn Robinson is The Disruptor almost in spite of himself. At Purdue he averaged 30 and 11 as a small forward playing power forward, then signed a rookie contract so seismic it directly triggered the NBA rookie salary scale, reshaping league economics without intending to. His own admission that coaches simply let him play, and that he did not fully know what he was doing, is the disruptor's signature: instinct and unconventional presence bending institutions.
“I just wanted to play basketball. And that's one big reason why I kind of didn't fall out with the media. I just I'm just not a big media person anyway.”
“I didn't believe that I could do it. But once again, I was just happy to be in the game in the NBA. I didn't care about getting drafted away. I got drafted.”
“I didn't know what I was doing until it's over. When I go back and look at some of the games or when I look at some of my numbers, I know the numbers the short time that I did play, it measures up there with some of the greatest.”
