OTA LEADERSHIP INDEX

Enrique Lores

ARCHETYPE

The Operator

Execution, delivery and performance, gets the hard thing done.

Enrique Lores reads as The Operator because his authority at HP was earned layer by layer, from an internship through three decades inside the business before taking the chief executive role. That depth shows in how he leads, executing a disciplined turnaround, confronting the printer supplies model directly, investing in hybrid work with precision, and holding profitability steady under sustained market pressure. Lores treats execution itself as the strategy, and accountability as its measure.

IN THEIR WORDS, WHY OPERATOR

The main theory, which at least in our case have proven to be true, was focus. Each market was moving in a different direction, we were competing with different companies, so being focused, being able to invest in our segments was critical.

EXPLAINING HP SPLIT RATIONALE

We realized and learned painfully during Covid that depending on a specific territory or having too much dependency was too risky. Since then we have been diversifying to increase resiliency.

SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGY POST-COVID

The pace where technology is changing is faster than ever, so making sure we are making the right technology bets, that we hire the right people to develop those technologies — that's one of the key challenges.
