OTA LEADERSHIP INDEX

Eliza Filby

ARCHETYPE

The Navigator

Judgement in the fog, money, risk and the call others cannot make.

Eliza Filby leads not through an organisation but through ideas, and her influence maps cleanly onto The Navigator archetype. A historian by training, she has built a public role interpreting generational change, from her academic work on religion and politics in the Thatcher era to her widely discussed book Inheritocracy, which examines how family wealth shapes opportunity for younger generations. Her leadership style is that of a wayfinder, taking complex demographic, economic and cultural currents and translating them into usable maps for boards, brands and policymakers. Rather than issuing prescriptions, she orients audiences, showing where society has been and where it is plausibly heading. Her strength lies in synthesis and foresight grounded in historical evidence, and her secondary trait is a visionary instinct for naming emerging shifts before they become conventional wisdom.
