Dex Hunter-Torricke

Dex Hunter-Torricke has spent close to two decades positioned where technology meets institutional power. He began in the office of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, then became Google's first executive speechwriter, drafting for Eric Schmidt and Larry Page. He went on to build Facebook's first executive communications function alongside Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg, ran communications for Elon Musk at SpaceX, and returned to Google to lead communications and marketing for DeepMind, where he directed the global go-to-market for Gemini. In October 2025 he was appointed by the Chancellor of the Exchequer to the board of HM Treasury, an unusual crossing from corporate narrative into public economic governance. Shortly after he departed Big Tech to found the Center for Tomorrow, a non-profit addressing the social and economic dislocation of the AI transition. The move reframes him from institutional spokesman to independent convener of the debate itself. In conversation he is measured, systems-minded, and pointedly future-facing. He resists the clickbait instinct for single-actor solutions, insists that governments, business, civil society, and individuals share the burden together, and returns repeatedly to a central provocation: that most capable people have no plan for their own disruption.
