Dan Doctoroff reads as The Architect because he builds systems at civilisational scale rather than managing what exists. As Deputy Mayor of New York he engineered the post-9/11 economic recovery, used the 2012 Olympic bid as a framework for urban transformation, and drove the Hudson Yards rezoning into reality. At Sidewalk Labs he attempted to blueprint the smart city from first principles. He does not react to cities. He redesigns them, structurally and permanently.
